Many years ago, because of the prevailing geopolitical system in the world, Russian was an obligatory language in primary schools, secondary schools and universities in Poland. After the change of the political system, one could even say that this language was forgotten, directing its interest towards the so-called ‘Western’ languages, i.e. German, English, French. The translator of Russian, due to the many changes related to technological development in the world, compared to, say, the 1980s, 1990s, also has to polish his knowledge in other languages, because many concepts and specialised phrases in Russian have been “borrowed” from English or German. In order to keep up to date with the terminology in specialist and other translations, the Russian translator absolutely must follow all the news published on Russian websites. We also recommend reading all the news provided by Russian news portals, as they are an interesting and informative source of information.
